My family and I had such a great time on this tour! We loved everything, but Park Güell was a highlight for all of us. Walking along the colorful mosaic bench with city views was gorgeous, and the Dragon Stairway was unlike anything we’d seen. Our tour guide was great and told us a lot about Gaudí’s life, for example, he never used blueprints for his designs but instead relied on models and his intuition to create his structures. DISCOVER CASA AMATLLER AND CASA MILÀ
Your tour will begin at Casa Amatller, built in 1898 by Josep Puig i Cadafalch. As you take in its stunning facade, your guide will point out the intricate floral carvings and explain how traditional Dutch houses inspired its stepped gable roof. From here, you’ll head to Casa Milà (“La Pedrera”), famous for its wavy stone facade. The guide will share how the building’s organic design symbolizes nature and point out the 30 chimneys on the rooftop, sculpted to resemble warriors’ helmets.
EXPLORE PARK GÜELL
Next, you’ll walk to Park Güell, one of Gaudí’s most famous creations, covering over 17 hectares. At the same time, Puig i Cadafalch’s Casa Amatller combines modernism with medieval and Gothic elements. Despite their professional rivalry, they shared mutual respect in other aspects of their lives.
HE LIVED AT THE SAGRADA FAMÍLIA
Gaudí became so devoted to La Sagrada Família that he moved into a small room on-site during the last 15 years of his life, overseeing its construction almost exclusively.
